In Clayhill (Bedfordshire) in GB
Eind september werd het zonnepark, dat een capaciteit levert gelijk aan het gebruik van 2.500 huishoudens, geopend door de minister van Klimaat die er zelf geen cent in hoefde te steken. Anesco, een van Engels toonaangevende ontwikkelaars van duurzame energie, heeft dit gerealiseerd door:
- uitgebreide ervaring met opslag van zonne-energie, door plaatsing van het park bij een 6 MW opslagfaciliteit
- nieuwe visie op ontwikkelen en financieren
- analyse van de inkoop
- optimalisatie van alle aspecten van het technische gedeelte zoals, ontwerp, specificaties en het hanteren van de nieuwste technologieën.
Shine, Anesco’s directeur: “For the solar industry, Clayhill (Bedfordshire) is a landmark development and paves the way for a sustainable future, where subsidies are no longer needed or relied upon. Importantly, it proves that the Government’s decision to withdraw subsidies doesn’t have to signal the end of solar as a commercially viable technology.”
De realisatie van de constructie en de installatie nam twaalf weken in beslag.
Claire Perry, Minister van Climate Change & Industry: “The cost of solar panels and batteries has fallen dramatically over the past few years, and this first subsidy-free development at Clayhill is a significant moment for clean energy in the UK. Solar panels already provide enough electricity to power 2.7 million homes.”
Anesco heeft op dit moment ongeveer honderd zonneparken in beheer. De Chinese fabrikant van elektrische auto’s BYD, leverde de zonnepanelen en de vijf opslag-units. Huawei leverde de omvormers (1500 Volt). Elke 5 MW site van het zonnepark is voorzien van een accu van 1,1 MWh.
Luke Hargreaves van Ofgem (energie leverancier): “Battery storage can assist with system balancing and save consumers money by matching supply and demand. It has the potential to play an important role as Britain makes the transition to a low carbon, smarter and more flexible energy system. We have long seen the opportunity that energy storage presents, installing the UK’s first utility scale unit back in 2014. Since then we have been working hard to ensure it’s a commercially-viable proposition and we’re delighted to be first to step up and make it work here.”
